IN the pre-independence era i.e. under British Rule a young man qualified himself in Teaching Line in a remote hemlet called Vazhzgakari near Nagapattinam. Dist. He with a ambitious plan wanted start a school to cater to the needs of rural poor and illiterate population. As the village is dominated kisan families and they cannot afford to pay for the education of the children as they were finding it difficult to survive with the meager income from uncertain agricultural sector.

The young man viz Shri. Subramania Iyer was from a poor Teaching family but he was determined to start school. He started the in the year 1926 in a small thatched shed with few students started the noble venture. Over the years due to dedicated service of Shri. Subramanian, the school strength started to grow in numbers and quality. He upgraded the school to 5 Standard.

After of few decades, his son Shri. K.S.Gangatharan, a qualified Post graduate Teacher took over the management of the school. During his tenure, the school grown in size and quality. The school strength touched all time high of 600 students and the school was upgraded to Middle school up to 8th std under Government of Tamil Nadu free education. The Alumni of the school numbering nearly to few thousand are well placed in life and settled. The school was brought under the category of Govt Aided school. The salaries to the teachers are being paid by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The school is now functioning in 1 acres of land owned by the Trust

In the year 2023, a separate Trust was formed under the chairmanship of Mr.K.S.Gangatharan and took over the school management with main object of providing free education to rural poor and uplift from the status of downtrodden. The new management has great plans to bring the Model school for the quality education in Tamil Nadu. The management wants to improve the basic infrasture and provide. The Management drafted Plans to provide quality free education and Job oriented skill development programme for the rural youth and women in vazhagarai near by areas.

UP GRADING THE SCHOOL AS HIGHSCHOOL

Due to paucity of classrooms the present students are cramped in the existing space and need Additional space of 750 sq.ft in other words for 3 class rooms of 250 sq.ft. For grading the school to High school we need three more class rooms i.e. another 750 sq.ft. Apart from the above two blocks, the school needs Laboratory and Computer Hub. Also existing Toilet Facilities needed complete renovation.
